Come fly with me and explore GREECE! PART III- SAILBOAT TO KOUFONISIA ISLANDS & RINA CAVE

If you love sailboats, or any boats, and if you love the sea, at least just a little bit, this TRIP is for you! The trip cannot just to be on any boat or not just any sailboat, it has to be with CAPTAIN PANOS. AMAZING! INCREDIBLE! FUN! I have met quite a few passionate people in my life, but Captain Panos was something else. He takes his passion for sailing and touring small Cyclades to a different level. He wants his customers truly enjoy sailing experience, see the beauty what Greece has to offer, see what the sea has to offer. Did we pick the right day to take his sailboat, I honestly would say no, the wind was quite high which meant the sea mildly said, rough. But for Captain Panos was nothing to it, as we watched him to take matters into his hands. Ok, so a few times we all had to move to one side of the boat and then another. No problem.

The first anchor was at Kato Koufonisi, where we dived into the dreamiest coral color water and had a chance to snorkel. Oh my, what an amazing experience. At first, Izabella wasn’t too keen on snorkeling in the middle of the seas, but quickly changed her mind, as mom and dad did it.

“Please, please, try this, while you wait for others,” as Capton Panos started to pour us, something I have never heard of, Raki. “It is so so gooot. Rilly, rilly.” (His English was superb with the cutest Greek accent)

As I took my first sip, it reminded me of Fireball, and as much as I don’t care for FB, Raki was more tolerable. The location and ambiance are everything - after all, we were in the middle of the Aegean Sea, in Greece and on a sailboat.

Next stop was another part of Kato Koufonisi, but now it had cliffs. My brave child, to my huge surprise, decided to climb one and jump. It was quite an experience for me as a mama to watch, for her dad to video it and for her to jump in.

After a few more picturesque snorkeling experiences we arrived to Pano Koufonisi, a charming town with small beaches and tavernas on the sea. A glass of rose and traditional Cretan Ntakos/Dakos salad hit the spot.

Next stop was Rina Cave. OH MY GOD!!! WHAT AN AMAZING ENCOUNTER! Just imagine snorkeling in the cave and not seeing really what is in front of you or around you. And as cold as the water is you just don’t want to get out. The little fish, rocks and unknown keeps you in the water.

After a few more stops and more snorkeling experiences we were headed to the shore. Due to rough sea, even Captain Panos couldn’t take us to visit Glaronisi for a swim. But the truth to be told, we didn’t really mind. Our day was filled with 7 stops in the mysterious Cyclades and Rina Cave, why wouldn’t this be enough? “So so sorri. So sorri. I rilly rilly tried.” And that is why I said in the beginning, Captain Panos is the only way to go. A captain who has so much passion for what he does and captain who wants to show his customers all the beauty there is in one day. 8.30-18.30 TEN HOURS OF BLISS!!!

NEXT STOP - ATHENS!
